NARINDER BAZEN
I am a conceptual artist who challenges the status quo for a living. I love people, and I especially love empowering them.
I blend death work, art, mysticism, and straight talk as culture midwifery for enchanted living.
Since 2014, my art has unfolded through death work-transforming death care and grief work into a subversive, imaginative, and necessary practice for navigating both personal loss and the unraveling of the world as we know it. My work is driven by a deep interest in world-building through the lens of grief work and death work.
In 2019 I founded a death arts school called Nine Keys.
I am passionate about serving artists and death workers as they navigate the imagining of what death work is while righting the wrongs of the systems that have commodified death and compounded our grief for hundreds of years. I see through the cracks in what we have become to glimpse a world where humanity is restored through a homecoming to death, one of the most holy moments of life. Living in death awareness, this culture is softened, deepened, and re-enchanted, allowing us to remember who we are and how we live for one another.
I come from a long line of old wives' tales. My ancestors are shrouding women.
NINE KEYS
DEATH MIDWIFERY APPRENTICESHIP
To walk close with death to reclaim sovereignty. To create art and magic through death work. To imagine death care in ancient-future ways for yourself and your community. To midwife a society that is on hospice. To make from grief. To live in death awareness, thus to come to life.
